Who are you? 

 

The Associate Product Manager’s main responsibility is to assist senior product managers in identifying, writing, and validating product feature requirements and user stories aligned to major product stream projects and initiatives.

 

The ideal candidate has demonstrated the ability to work effectively with both business stakeholders and highly technical team members and is a detail-oriented and self-motivated team member. This role reports directly to the Director, Product Management 

 

In this role you will wear many hats, but your knowledge will be essential in the following:  

  • Work with direct manager and Senior Product Managers and to understand project goals, problem framing, major solution design scope decisions and target project timelines
  • Based on project scope, work with stakeholders to define and validate the requirements needed to execute on intended scope. Consult with Product Director when trade-offs and/or prioritization is needed.
  • Work cross-team to collaborate on requirements as needed
  • Requirements should take into account influence from and impact on existing platform features and configuration settings.
  • Work with UX Design to create User Stories based on design mockups.
  • Create detailed documentation of technical User Stories to capture requirements as they map to product project Epics.
  • Work with Product Managers and Engineering to estimate User Story points so that they can be scheduled in sprints based on capacity.
  • Provide backlog management, iteration planning, and elaboration of the user stories.
  • Provide sprint planning with prioritized User Story documentation in time for sprint planning deadlines
  • Identify cross-team dependencies during requirements creation and work to assure impacted team(s) have available capacity and velocity to hit target dates
  • Keep abreast with Agile/Scrum best practices and new trends

You also take pride in offering the following Core Skills, Competencies, and Characteristics:

  • 1-3 years of previous work experience in Business Analyst, Product, Engineering, or related role
  • Previous experience working in the digital health/healthcare industry
  • Interest in Health and Wellbeing a plus

Continuous Integration and Deployment is part of our DNA.  We structure our applications as microservices and manage each deployment pipeline using containers, GitLab, and Harness.  We strive for layered approach to unit, integration, functional tests to allow for lower risk releases at rates 100s of times per day to multiple environments.

 

You’ll be working on a platform that serves:

  • Several million users with nearly 50% use daily
  • 75 billion API calls and transactions a year spread across 35 services
  • An engaging native mobile platform driving 85% of user traffic
  • Hundreds of terabytes of data spread across multiple transactional and analytical stores

Engineers at Virgin Pulse work in small autonomous teams of technical leads, product owners, project managers, designers, and engineers collaborating with each other, across teams, to deliver unique solutions and products to the portfolio.  As part of our team, you bring to the table your technical and leadership skills to help us build the latest technology in health and wellness platforms.

Security Competencies:

Work to ensure system and data security is maintained at a high standard, ensuring the confidentiality, integrity and availability of the Virgin Pulse application is not compromised. Ensure industry best practice coding standards are adhered to ensure all code developed at Virgin Pulse is free from bugs and security vulnerabilities, such as those defined and published by OWASP.
